Sənan Ələskərov 10 yanvar 1956-cı ildə Bakıda anadan olub. 1982-ci ildə Bakı Dövlət Universitetini jurnalistika fakültəsini bitirib.
Uşaqlıqda təyyarəçi, maşinist, kinooperator, arxeoloq, gitaraçı olmaq istəyən Sənan Ələskərov bütünlüklə özünü foto sənətinə həsr etməklə sanki bütün uşaqlıq arzularını həyata keçirmiş olur.
Son zamanlar isə Sənan Ələsgərovu sənədli foto daha çox maraqlandırır. Onun fikrincə bundan daha çox sürrealist sənət təsəvvür etmək mümkün deyil. Odur ki, doğma Abşeron torpağının hər qarışında, əhatəsində olduğu adamların, yaşadığı məhəllənin civarında belə öz süjetlərini tapa bilir.
Sənan Ələskərov 1989-1990-cı illərdə Xəzər fotoklubunun sədri olub. 1976-2000-ci illərdə jurnalist, elmi və tətbiqi fotoqrafiya ilə məşğul olub. Azərbaycan Fotoqraflar Birliyinin üzvüdür.
